A challenge
NOUN:
1. A call to engage in a contest, fight, or competition: a challenge to a duel.
2. An act or statement of defiance; a call to confrontation: a challenge to the government's authority.
3. A demand for explanation or justification; a calling into question: a challenge to a theory.
4. A sentry's call to an unknown party for proper identification.
5. A test of one's abilities or resources in a demanding but stimulating undertaking: a career that offers a challenge.
I think for our purposes, definition number 1 and 5 says it best. Although it is not a contest with each other, but more To test ourselves. It is in the spirit of learning by challenging ourselves, and sharing ideas, and techniques. It's about challenging yourself photographically, and participating in our forum community. Learn and grow your skills amongst friends .
The challenges will be set up on a bi-weekly basis and then we will have a monthly challenge as well. So for each month we will have three challenges you may participate in. The challenges will have a set time limit, this way, it will give us something to look forward to! Although we are not doing contests as of yet, having a time limit on the challenges will help you practice "timed picture taking". This is so when you decide to enter in contests, you will have experience with taking a picture within the dates given.
These challenges are not a way to "critique" the pictures you are taking, but more to expand the way you choose to take pictures. Every member is encouraged to participate, but it is up to YOU wether or not you decide to accept these challenges. It is an open invitation to join into challenges and adventures in digital photography. Everyone from beginner to expert may participate. Get those creative juices flowing! Here we all can post pictures from the challenge, and your results. This is a way to discover what works for you and what doesn't. To explore ways of taking different pictures. So GET OUT There! ADVENTURE WITH US! But most important of all, HAVE FUN!
