Guardians

Hey all,

Hope everyone had a great Holiday! ^^ I haven't posted on here in ages, so I figured I'd get somethin up at least. Nothin special ^^

Went out and shot a few pictures in Resurrection Cemetery over the past weekend. There's a large herd of deer that have taken up residency in the graveyard, and they can be seen almost anywhere out there. They're not too skittish, because despite the signs to not feed them, most people do lol. ^^ I got a few closer shots of them than usual.

Some people believe that deer are the physcal appearance of spirits that haven't yet passed on. And some others believe that they are guardians of the spirits in places like Resurrection. ^^

Thanks for looking ^^ Comments welcome.

Shocked Wow, those are close-up! I'm lucky to see them standing on the side of the road...as I grab my camera (if I have it with me..lol), they turn and run! Laughing

Beautiful shots!

Super Shots Reverie, I looked up deer for animal totem spirit guides and this is what I came up with.

Deer: gentleness, caring and kindness

Deer blend very well with their environment but are very sensitive to every sound or movement. Often twins, even triplets, are born in the spring. Does and bucks live in separate groups until the mating season. The white-tailed deer are moderately gregarious, and family members forage food together along with other family groups, giving the appearance of a large herd. People with Deer Medicine are often described as being swift and alert. They are intuitive, often appearing to have well developed, even extrasensory perceptions. Sometimes their thoughts seem to race ahead, and they appear not to be listening. Deer's medicine includes gentleness in word, thought and touch, ability to listen, grace and appreciation for the beauty of balance, understanding of what's necessary for survival, power of gratitude and giving, ability to sacrifice for the higher good, connection to the woodland spirits, alternative paths to a goal. The gentleness of Deer is the heart-space of the Great Spirit which embodies His love for us all. Deer teaches us to find the gentleness of spirit that heals all wounds, to stop pushing to get others to change and to love and accept them as they are. The only true balance to power is love and compassion.

I take that as they are there for guidence for those who have passed and to help heal those who come to grieve...but hey thats just me.
either way..WOW nice shots!!

Reverie these are beautiful shots!
Thanks Teri for looking up the medicine for deer.
No matter what your interpretation, whether the deer
are guardians or spirits themselves, I like the idea
that they are in the cemetary. I have to agree with
Teri's interpretation and I think it just adds
to the beautiful pictures!

Hi Reverie,

Nice shots, what lens did you use to bring them so close or are they really that tame?
